Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

Checkright is proud to announce its participation in the 2015 annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, held every May in Richmond, VA. Checkright sponsored each staff member’s registration and encouraged employees to raise pledges for the walk. Checkright also matched the first $500 of employee-raised pledges. Checkright employees raised over $1,300 in donations.We were also joined by several friends and family members.

Checkright is pleased to announce that Laura Camp has joined our team. Laura has a Marketing degree from JMU where she played on the lacrosse team. She has corporate experience in HR and Staffing and served as the bookkeeper for her husband’s construction company for many years, before joining Checkright. Laura enjoys vacationing with her husband and three children, at the beach. Welcome Laura!

Debbie NelsonCheckright is pleased to welcome Debbie Nelson to our team. Debbie joins us as a payroll processor and bookkeeper after 8 years leading the bookkeeping and payroll departments at Martin, Dolan & Holton, Ltd. a CPA firm. She has an accounting degree from Belhaven College. Many of you have already gotten to know Debbie from working with her the past few months. She has lived in Richmond since 1998 and has a husband, 3 kids, and a dog. Debbie also was recognized by the American Payroll Association with the Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) this past spring. Welcome Debbie!

Alison McGarryCheckright is pleased to welcome Alison McGarry to our team. Alison is a graduate of VCU with a degree in Business Management and Administration. She originally hails from Buckingham County and has lived in Richmond for 10 years. Many of you have had a chance to say hi to Alison already as she is manning our front desk while she completes a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting at VCU. She is also studying for and will be taking the FPC exam this fall. Welcome Alison!

Checkright-logoCheckright hit a milestone in June when we completed the conversion to our new back end software suite. We have many more features at our disposal now and we have been implementing them with great success with our clients. Ask us about our new Quickbooks Integration download file. Simultaneously, we have completed our migration from internal servers to the cloud. Checkright now employs state of the art equipment, accessibility, and security in our IT infrastructure and is poised to leverage the benefits of this change for years to come.

Staff News and Office Announcements

Checkright is pleased to announce a new member of our team, Cody Camblin. Please take a minute to join us in welcoming Cody to the Checkright team.

Cody comes to us from another local accounting firm where he was involved in the payroll, bookkeeping, and tax operations. He holds an Economics Degree from the University of Mary Washington and an MBA from Old Dominion University. He has currently completed 4 of the 5 CPA accreditation exams and is on his way to attaining that designation. His wife is a teacher and they have a young son.

Checkright is also proud to acknowledge a staff milestone: Ashley Lewis joined the Checkright staff on September 8th, 2008, recently marking her 5 year anniversary at Checkright. Many of you have worked with Ashley (formerly Turner before her recent marriage) over the years and she brings the perfect mix of work ethic and industry knowledge to all her clients, to go with her unflappable demeanor. Thank you Ashley!

Checkright News – Office Closings, Staff Announcements, and Company News

Holiday Closings:

Checkright will be closed Monday, May 27th, in observance of Memorial Day. The date and day of the week that this Holiday falls on will not impact most of our clients’ payroll schedules. Your payroll processor will contact you directly if your processing schedule is affected.

Checkright will also be closed Thursday and Friday, July 4th and 5th. Thursday the fourth is a Federal Bank Holiday so all payrolls with direct deposits Friday July 5th will have to be processed by Tuesday, July 2nd. Payrolls with paper checks only with pay days on July 5th will have to be processed by Wednesday July 5th. This schedule is one day early that week for most of our customers. Your processor will contact you as that week approaches.

Checkright Holiday Office Closings for the remainder of 2013:

  • Monday, Sept 2nd, Labor Day
  • Thursday and Friday, Nov 28th and 29th, Thanksgiving
  • At Christmas, Checkright will close at 12:00 on December 24th and reopen December 26th at noon.

Staff Announcements and Company News

  • Sarah Levine successfully completed the American Payroll Association course and comprehensive examination and has attained the designation, Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC). Congratulations Sarah!
  • Long-time employee Ashley Turner was married on April 20th to Corey Lewis. Ashley will be using her married name at work now-Ashley Lewis-please make a note. Congratulations to the Happy Couple!
  • Checkright has finished a months-long evaluation process and purchased a new software suite that we are excited to unveil in the next few months. The new platform is built on the latest dot.net and sequel server technology, replacing our Microsoft Access platform. We will be able to offer great new features like gross to net calculations online, IPad and IPhone payrolls Apps, a report writer, the ability to import more and different types of employee time files directly into our software, and many, many other new features. This purchase will move Checkright to the lead position in the mareketplace in technology. Be sure to ask any of our reps about any of the new features listed here or any others on your wish list.

Checkright News – Holiday Closings and New Hire

Please join us in welcoming our newest Checkright team member, Rachel Haines. Rachel is a graduate of Millersville University in Pennsylvania where she received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting. She came to us from Susquehanna Bank when she relocated from Pennsylvania to Richmond this year. Rachel will be taking the National payroll Certification exam in the fall. She enjoys spending time at the “Rivah” and with her dogs. Welcome Rachel!

Checkright is also pleased to announce we are in the final phases of testing of our new online platform, which we will introduce to customers this summer. This robust platform includes a multitude of new features and information that will be available to our clients, including greatly enhanced HR features, single sign in for time-keeping and pay stubs, single sign in for multiple EIN’s, real time synching of data with our servers, and much, much more. We are excited about this upgrade and will look forward to sharing it over the some months-more news to follow.

Checkright Excited to Welcome Two New Team Members

Tim Barnett is our new Director of Sales and Marketing. Tim joins us after many years with his family’s business, Barnett’s Hallmark, which owned and operated 5 Richmond-area Hallmark Stores for years. As Chief Operating Officer, Barnett’s was named Richmond’s Retail Merchant of the Year in 2000. Tim brings great experience from all areas of the small business organization, making him a great resource for our customers and Checkright. Olivia Chin joins us fresh out of VCU. She graduated in December with a B.S. in Marketing with a concentration in Business Administration.
